Franz Schubert Octet in F

The Octet for winds and strings is one of Schubert’s most magnificent creations, yet it’s hardly ever played because few orchestras have the programming flexibility to draw large chamber ensembles from their midst. The work is an evening’s entertainment in itself—especially when preceded by good food and Austrian wines and beers. Tiernan’s Hall in downtown
Urbana is now office space, but the developers have beautifully preserved the stage and seating area.

This event is NOT part of our season ticket.
