The Ultimate Valentine’s Date
with Stefan Milenkovich, violin
Ani Aznavoorian, cello
Rohan De Silva, piano

Felix Mendelssohn: The Fair Melusine
Carl Nielsen: Serenade in Vain
Josef Suk: Serenade for Strings
Ludwig van Beethoven:
Concerto for Violin, Cello & Piano “Triple Concerto”

Treat your sweetheart—and your family—to the most romantic Valentine’s date ever, as we present a program of love found, lost, and thwarted. Mendelssohn’s seldom-heard overture describes a lover’s despair at learning his fair one regularly turns into a mermaid; Nielsen’s delightful chamber piece imagines three young gentleman regaling a reluctant maiden; and Suk’s ravishing string serenade paints a portrait of his future wife. For our finale, we feature a real-life husbandand-wife duo and a very special guest. Fresh off his triumph with us last season in Beethoven’s Violin Concerto, Stefan Milenkovich returns, with his wife (and fellow University of Illinois faculty member) Ani, and their good friend Rohan De Silva—who happens also to be Itzhak Perlman’s regular accompanist. All around, an experience not to be missed!
